Matana Plantation in Koro Island, a heavenly land for sale in fiji, a stunning development opportunity for tourism and private properties
On Koro Island, a heavenly land for sale in Fiji | FINEST RESIDENCES
In 1789, during his historical journey from Tahiti to Batavia, the legendary Captain Bligh of His Majesty’s ship Providence describes the Koro Island: “The island of Koro is of good height, it is easternmost of the islands I discovered and passed and recorded in my log book on May 6, 1789, on the Bounty’s launch. Nothing can exceed its beauty. The freehold titles to the large landholding estate of 806 acres described as Matana Plantation, is contained but contiguous land titles, being part of Koro Island, Fiji.”
The property’s original purpose was actually a coconut plantation and the land became a great supplier of “Copra”, which is the dried kernel of a coconut, usually boiled in order to extract coconut oil. The abundance of these materials has led Koro Island to become completely energy independent, with copra bio-fuel supplying all of the island’s energy.
The population of Koro is all English speaking, with the primary religion being Christianity. There are two Fijian villages near the Matana development. They provide a local supply of workers at a reasonable wage (current Fijian wage is $15 a day). With no property taxes, and an income tax holiday of 20 years, this land is amongst the most endowed, versatile earth available.
